Andrea Isaacs

Andrea Isaacs, MA, is the originator of EnneaMotion, The Somatic Enneagram, Somatic Focusing, Beyond Type: Transformation Through Movement and a Somatic development of the Hellinger work. She is known for her teaching and original work exploring the relationship between personality and movement.

She is founding co-editor and publisher of the Enneagram Monthly (the premier publication in its field), and for the last 25 years she has explored the connection between the body, personality and emotions through choreography, the Enneagram, yoga, meditation, t'ai chi, qigong, Focusing, Process-Oriented Psychology and Dance Therapy. Her workshops are based on the Enneagram and the Jungian functions, and she has been a popular presenter at Enneagram, CAPT and APT (Myers-Briggs) conferences. She teaches her workshops internationally and with the Riso-Hudson Professional Training Program in the United States and is available for private sessions.
"All my life, I've pursued an understanding of why people and their relationships are the way they are. Often a loner, I spent many hours in this contemplation, beginning a personal journal in 1968 which I continue to this day. I began Transcendental Meditation practice and Yoga in 1972. In college, I tried a dozen majors including psychology and philosophy, but took a break from academics to pursue what seemed like the real meaning in life and traveled. It seemed that many of my questions about purpose in life might be answered by combining the peace and harmony of meditation, the creativity of yoga, and the exhilaration of running; I thought that's what modern dance was. I finished college (B.A. & M.A. in Dance), teaching all along the way, a passion and interest since early childhood. The exchange of ideas and being part of the learning and growing process was always appealing to me. My choreography was inspired by life stories, relationships, myth and ritual, which I hoped would express insight into the meaning of life. Dancing and teaching brought me peace because I was finally working in my preferred (kinesthetic) mode.
During my Enneagram studies, it came to me how natural a combination the Enneagram and dance were, and that my years of choreographing "human nature" could be adapted to explore the inner feeling states of each Enneagram type. This gave birth to EnneaMotionSM.

In 1984, I began T'ai Chi and changed my spiritual discipline to Taoist practice. Now in my forties, with a craving to make change and grow in life, I am particularly intrigued by the Enneagram and its tools for understanding age-old questions."
Andrea has certified with Don Riso/Russ Hudson, Helen Palmer/David Daniels, and Kathy Hurley/Theodorre Donson. She has also studied with Tom Condon, and taken two Arica workshops. Also, as co-editor and publisher of the Enneagram Monthly, she has conducted in-depth interviews with all the major teachers in the field including a three-day private audience with Oscar Ichazo and interviews with Claudio Naranjo, Don Riso, Russ Hudson, Helen Palmer, David Daniels, Kathy Hurley and Theodorre Donson, Richard Rohr, Stephen Wolinsky, Michael Goldberg, Sandra Maitri, and others.
